Portrait photography of Asda’s main beef supplier…

I was commissioned by Asda’s supermarket magazine to provide a range of portrait images for their Christmas 2023 campaign. Working on location with people in their work environment is always a joy for me. I love the challenges that these location shoots present but really enjoy meeting new people and getting to understand how they work in their environment.

Simon was a lovely guy and a master chef. His attention to detail and high standards were clear to see and this is why Asda have chosen his company to supply one of their beef ranges.

The shoot was a combination of portrait photography, reportage photography and some food photography. Shooting freehand, using available light was mixed with some flash lighting to clean up the ambient and create some subtle mood. Understanding light and the variations available to a photographer is key on jobs like this. I always travel with slightly more kit than I will probably need, but on shoots such as this I don’t often know what I will be dealing with until I get there.

As with all shoots, I worked to the clients brief and worked around priority shots and the subjects schedule.

Working on this photoshoot for Asda was a joy and I look forward to working with them again on future projects.
