Regenerative farming at Ashlack Hall…
I was recently commissioned to photograph a regenerative Lakeland farm that puts sustainability at the heart of everything it does. Ashlack Hall combines two passions: regenerative farming and bespoke, catered hospitality, for those looking for private events with sustainability at the forefront. Ashlack Hall is a farm based in the Southern Lake District, overlooking the Duddon Estuary, run by Jenna and Bob, who are both chefs and now manage Bob’s family farm.
The farm’s regenerative agriculture practices — from building healthy soil to encouraging biodiversity — means that their sheep and cattle are about as local as it is possible to get. The farm-to-table dining reflects the farm’s commitment to eco-friendly values. Alongside the regeneratively reared livestock, there is seasonally foraged food from the land that combines to create this unique and sustainable experience.
As a photographer, my goal was to create a series of images that tell a story of how they farm with nature and the land at heart. This kind of sustainable farm photography is about telling the story of a future-focused way of farming and eating.
