Royal Crescent Hotel Photography.

Hotel photography takes me all over the UK and one such job was the stunning Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath. The shoot was actually commissioned by the company that owns the property to update their portfolio. They were very keen to get a bank of images that would showcase the iconic Royal Crescent. Working as a hotel photographer takes me to some fantastic locations and some beautiful properties, both period and modern. As period hotels go, this one is iconic and a well known UK landmark. Bath is a mecca for both tourists and business guests, so the Royal Crescent Hotel offers the luxury, heritage and location that many desire.

Despite being based in Cumbria, I travel all over the UK to photograph various hotels and hospitality venues. The challenges often remain the same with hotels as they are constantly busy, with guests staying, dining and checking in and out. They never stop and my job is to get the images required without getting in the way or affecting the service of the business. Careful planning and good communications with the management and staff is key. Knowing which rooms will be available, when and for how long, often determines the schedule of the day. Working with weather conditions and ambient lighting also has a bearing, so there are plenty of factors to consider when prioritising which area is photographed at the best time.

Most hotels are really good at preparing their rooms, so styling the location is not so much of a factor, but some attention to detail from the photographer always pays off. As with most other photo shoots, any minor issues will be picked up in the final image so it’s always best to get rid of any issues on set to avoid having retouching dilemmas in post production.

Thank you to client https://acunningplan.co.uk/ for the road trip down to the West country. They’re always a great agency to work for and have sent me on a range of varying photo shoots around the UK.
